While living among the giants for the month of November in 2024, I found myself sometimes overwhelmed by the complex beauty of the ancient redwood forest. As a painter, it seemed impossible to tell the story of what it was like to stand amidst the colors, textures, and layers of flora and fauna in this most special place. How could I share this amazing experience through paint and brush on paper? It took some time to see it all in my mind’s eye before I began to pull the pieces together into large watercolor collages. I will always treasure the opportunity given to me to have lived as an artist-in-residence in one of the most unique and beautiful places in the world.
